Enterprise Capabilities - The Missing Link Between Strategy and Performance (Click Here for
Program Description and Outline)
How You Will Benefit - This program will provide
a comprehensive coverage of business strategy, capability
development, process innovation and change management.
It will show you how to develop a capability based architecture
that starts with business drivers and strategic intent
and defines the process to develop the capabilities
required for the enterprise to realize its strategic
goals.
Who Should Attend - This workshop is intended
for Operating executives and Human Resources professionals
who are seeking a comprehensive overview of the strategic
planning process and how they can support it. Those
who would benefit most are specialists who have limited
to moderate experience in business planning, strategic
planning, and organization capability assessment.
BUSINESS SOLUTIONS FORUM OVERVIEW
The Business Solutions Forum is a team approach to solving problems and eliminating non-essential work. It involves the people closest to the work to identify the practices and procedures that get in the way of effective job and company performance. Over the course of two and a half days, participants brainstorm, problem solve, and develop recommendations for improving operations in a given area.
BUILDING AND LEADING CAPABLE TEAMS
Overview - Two realities have helped shape
organizational life today: first, that all organizations
are faced with a primary challenge: to produce consistently
superior performance; second, superior teamwork and
superior work teams have been demonstrated to be a consistent
strategy for producing superior performance in providing
services and products. Teamwork is what leverages the
potential of an organization into superior results.
Teamwork is the vehicle for integrating information,
technology, competence, and resources. But teamwork
is not easy, and it is not simple. For, without a clear,
functional model to guide us, the task becomes so confused
and contaminated with unsupported opinion and bias that
it is nearly impossible. Our approach is to provide
managers and other key people with a practical model
and tools that they require for building superior teamwork
and developing superior work teams.
ENTERPRISE PROFITABILITY
(An HLC/Professional Skills Training Workshop)
Overview - a highly creative business simulation
that is a fast, effective introduction to business,
finance, and value creation. Participants run a business
in which their decisions determine how successful that
business is. Whatever profit or loss they make, they
will know exactly how and why they achieved it.
TOTAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
(An HLC/Professional Skills Training Workshop)
Overview - The Total Customer Satisfaction
simulation gives participants the opportunity to learn
about improving business effectiveness, managing change,
and raising customer satisfaction. The starting point
is a business that is in trouble. Business processes
are badly structured. Productivity is low. Bureaucracy
is rife. Customer orientation is low, and the business
is losing money. The challenge to participants is to
change the way the business works so that it consistently
delights the customer and becomes successful. This will
require them to find out what the customers want and
reorganize their activities to produce it, while under
time and financial pressure, while running the existing
business.
TARGETED CHANGE
Overview - A team-based effort to work on mutually-agreed
upon business challenges. This is an "action learning"
process that will involve selecting a meaningful business
problem and working as part of a team to develop a broad,
overall framework to address it.
MANAGING ORGANIZATIONAL TRANSITIONS
(A William Bridges & Associates Workshop)
Overview - It is clear that this is a time
full of changes in strategy, technology, product mix,
and culture - and with many of them, organization and
redeployment. As in the past, all too many of these
changes will be planned with little concern for how
they will affect people or for what people will have
to do to make them work. but experience suggests that
the psychological process that change initiates is more
like distress and disruption than adjustment. Many of
the changes that are meant to strengthen the organization
will actually weaken it. For they will leave its people
resentful, demotivated and confused at a time when commitment
and creativity are essential. Even the most advantageous
change will be compromised if morale plummets, productivity
collapses, or key personnel jump ship.
Fortunately there is an effective way to keep that from
happening. Developed over twenty years of working with
all kinds of organizations, Managing Organizational
Transition is a widely used and readily learned set
of techniques for managing the human side of change.
This program will include techniques for disengaging
people from old ways of doing things, providing them
with support to get them through the in-between time,
and helping them adapt to the new ways that the change
demands.
MANAGING EXECUTIVE TRANSITIONS
Overview - Turnover in managerial positions
is a fact of life. When unmanaged, transitions can result
in role ambiguity, reduction in openness of communication
and jockeying for positions. Failure to recognize and
deal with the complexities of a transition can lead
to reduced performance for the whole work group. The
transition meeting is designed to enable new managers
and their direct reports to exchange information and
establish relationships early, and assist all concerned
to understand their objectives as a work group.
MEANINGFUL MEASURES
Overview - More and more organizations are
using "surveys" to help guide and promote
change in the organization. Surveys have very limited
use if they are not meaningful and followed up with
effective action plans and accountability measures.
You will learn what "meaningful" measures
are - decision tools that are linked with and aligned
to strategy, development, and business results. You
will learn to differentiate between effective and ineffective
"360" assessment. You will learn to use customer
satisfaction measurement to improve business processes
that benefit the customer.
ORGANIZATIONAL CHARACTER
(A William Bridges & Associates Workshop)
Overview - This program is based on the work
of William Bridges and Chris Edgelow's writings on The
character of Organizations. It has long been recognized
that organizations have distinct and unique cultures,
and much has been written on that subject. One of the
limiting factors of that work is that there has been
no clear way to define the organization and its component
parts in a simple, object manner. Organizational character
uses a very familiar and easy-to-understand framework
to differentiate one type of organization or department
from another. Organizations differ, just as individuals
do. People who work in organizational settings - leaders,
managers, human resource professionals, OD consultants,
training specialists - can significantly enhance their
impact by understanding the unique character of their
organization. This program introduces organizational
character, a concept based on the MBTI. Whereas the
MBTI focuses on the individual, organizational character
focuses on the organization.
